Subject: Please Note: Change to OLT Commissioned Work Request for Proposal - Good Practice Report project deliverable [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

UNCLASSIFIED
Dear Institutional Contact Officers,
The Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) would like to advise that there has been a slight change to the Request for Proposal for the Good Practice Reports.
The project deliverables now include a literature review point that unfortunately had dropped off the document. This has been updated on the OLT website and in the attached pdf.
The project deliverables for the Good Practice Report should include:
·         List the key outcomes for teaching and learning of the work done in the topic by the OLT and its predecessor bodies (maximum three pages)
·         Identify and analyse the findings of, and resources for, teaching and learning produced by the national learning and teaching projects and fellowships (half to one page per project or fellowship)
·         Provide a literature review of good practice and key outcomes for teaching and learning from broader Australian and international scholarly research and publications (five to ten pages)
·         Identify the proposed outcomes, and resources for, teaching and learning which will be produced by the incomplete OLT projects and fellowships (half a page per project or fellowship)
·         Identify areas in which further development or work are needed (maximum one page)
Please accept our apologies and the OLT would be grateful if you could forward this information to interested members of your staff.
Please contact us on learningandteaching@deewr.gov.au if you have any further questions.
Kind regards

Office for Learning and Teaching Grants: Round 2

Dear Colleagues

We are  pleased to advise that Round 2 of the 2013 OLT Grants is now underway, closing on 2 August 2013.

CHELT will be holding an Information Session on Friday 19 April, for staff who are interested in developing Seed Grant and Extension Grant proposals for this round. There will also be further workshops on developing and writing grant proposals. See the Awards & Grants calendar on the CHELT website for dates of all sessions. For staff who submitted an application in Round 1 2013, the results of this round are not yet known.

Please note that the 2014 Round 1 dates have been brought forward, and will close on November 4, 2013. From Round 1 in 2014, applicants will be able to develop Expressions of Interest for Innovation and Development Grants, and the Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Grants, or full proposals for Seed Grants or Extension Grants. Round 2 will only be open to full proposals invited from successful Expressions of Interest in Round 1.

With the recent announcement that the major grants programs and the fellowships programs of the Office for Learning and Teaching have been listed as Category 1 on the 2013 Australian Competitive Grants Register, we anticipate that the OLT Grants will become an important source of research income to ANU.

If you or your colleagues intend submitting a OLT grant proposal, either with the ANU as the lead institution or with colleagues through another institution, we ask that you submit the Notice of Intent to Submit an OLT Grant Application, linked from the 'Four step guide for ANU applicants' on the CHELT website. The DVC(A) has requested that from 2013 only staff who have submitted an Intent to Submit by 13 May 2013 will be endorsed and permitted to proceed with submitting to the OLT.

Kind regards
Lyn

Closing dates for OLT Academic Secondments for 2013 announced

Dear all

The Office for Learning and Teaching has announced the closing dates for nominations for Academic Secondments.

Academic Secondments aim to enhance the ties and understanding between the sector, the OLT and DIISRTE.

Secondees will carry out a program of work for the Government and the higher education sector on strategic priorities. Those seconded will be a source of academic advice and support to the staff of the OLT, with the aim of broadening staff capability within DIISRTE, and building relationships with the home institution.
Selection is based on individuals’ professional standing and leadership capabilities, their strong record of contributing to learning and teaching development in their discipline, home institution, and/or more broadly across the higher education sector, their role in policy development and implementation, and demonstrated project management experience, including dissemination and promotion of funded work.
Information regarding the Academic Secondment program and nomination forms may be found on our website at http://www.olt.gov.au/fellowships-and-secondments/secondments.

The closing date for nomination is Friday 26 April 2013.

I would be most grateful if you would encourage your staff who meet these criteria, and would benefit from the experience, to apply. The OLT has gained an enormous benefit from the first secondment and the feedback from the sector on Tilly Hinton's work has been overwhelmingly positive.

Kind regards
